Trail Report
TGIF, PC! Here's the latest dirt on your local trails for the weekend of July 11th-13th...
It's no secret that we desperately need rain and there's nary a drop in sight. That said, the upper elevation and north-facing trails are holding up pretty darn well.
A few Closures/Trail Impacts to be aware of...
~ Closures remain in effect at Park City Mtn, on lower Jenni’s & Seldom Seen/First Time Return. For your safety, please respect all closures and use the suggested alternative routes posted at the base area.
~ In the north end of the Valley, the 29029 Trail Race is running today and tomorrow impacting the Mid Mountain and Rob's trail systems including Iron Bill & Moosepuddle. The trails will remain OPEN to the public but consider alternate routes to avoid crowds.
Our team spent the week feeding the black flies and dodging helicopters while plugging away on both machine and hand work on Bonanza to WOW.
Crews also cleared side-veg on Corvair, Freemason and sections of Mother Urban & John's '99.
The big news this week is that starting today, City Government of Park City, Utah Transit's Purple Route is expanding to offer regular access to the Bonanza Flat and Bloods Lake Trailheads.
This updated service replaces the former Transit to Trails program and supports a more sustainable, car-free way to reach some of Park City’s high-elevation trails and open space.
Details:
• Trail Service (Friday-Sunday): 20-minute frequency from Old Town Transit Center to Bloods Lake Trailhead, and Bonanza Flat Trailhead including regular purple route standard stops at Montage, etc.
• Regular Service (Monday-Thursday): 30-minute frequency to Montage (with standard Purple Route stops)
• Operating Hours: 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., daily
• Dogs now welcome on all Park City Transit routes with leash and muzzle in designated area of the bus
• Buses can accommodate eight bikes per trip during the Trail Service
Soooo, get on the bus, Russ!
Rain dances are strongly encouraged... Have a great one out there! #trailreport

It's another Saturday in the Park, Park City! A quick post-4th trail update on this beUtahful looking Saturday morn...
The big news today is that we had some solid, though isolated, showers late yesterday. The Old Town area and north to Kimball Junction seemed to be getting the brunt of it. Hopefully it'll be enough to knock down the dust for a day or two and give us a little hero dirt to play with.
Also newsworthy, the Bonanza Loop Trail (BLT), is officially open for the season!
*Trail Impacts- Park City Mtn*
Lower Jenni’s and Seldom Seen will remain closed throughout July, while their team completes improvements to the terrain parks. Closures are indicated on the attached map with red X’s. For your safety and that of the construction teams, please respect all closures.
~ Recommended Uphill Routes: Silver Spur to Armstrong; Spiro; Mother Urban (Town Area)
~ Downhill Route from Seldom Seen: Seldom Seen -> Jenni’s (slight climb) -> Lower CMG
This past week our crews wrapped up top-to-bottom side-veg clearing on both Armstrong and White Fir out at Slate Creek.
The team also tackled the Bonanza Loop trail, clearing blow-downs and trimming back side-vegetation in preparation for it's opening.
Trees were cleared on Mid Mountain, Charlie's 9k, Sweeny’s, Corvair, Empire, Trestle, Flat Cable, Keystone, Little Joe and Kalamazoo.
Work continues on the BLT to WOW connector with 3 excavators along with hand crews following behind and saw crews jumping ahead to clear the corridor.
Grab the bull by the horns this weekend and have a great one out there! #trailreport

Happy Friday afternoon Park City! A dry 'n dusty trail update to get your weekend rolling...
The weather... hot, dry, rinse (multiple times), repeat.
*TRAIL IMPACTS*
Users are advised to avoid the First Time area while heavy construction on the winter terrain park is underway. Lower Jenni's, lower Seldom Seen and First Time Return are closed. Silver Spur to Spiro/Armstrong remains open.
~ Bikers descending Seldom Seen will need to climb up Jennis .2 miles to exit on lower CMG. Hikers will need to avoid mid-Jenn's and CMG trails.
~ Recommended alternative hiking routes include: Mother Urban, Sweeny's/John's, Spiro, Armstrong & Dawn's.
*See map for visual aid*
Also, the Slate Creek Loop will be extremely busy with a mountain bike race tomorrow (Saturday), from 8am-5pm.
Some highlights from the week gone by...
~ Last weekend's "little" wind event kept crews busy clearing trees on Upper Spiro, Armstrong, Payroll, Cyn City, 9k, Ontario Bypass, Moosehouse, Lip Service, Change Up, Scott’s Bypass, Tommy’s, Mother Urban, and the Bloods Lake trail
~ Hoopty & crew wrapped up the re-tread/drainage and side-veg work on CMG.
~ Multiple crews spent the week giving Armstrong a much needed high-fade haircut.
~ On Tuesday, Emil and Candy led our monthly dig day with 30 volunteers, working on a hand-built, hike-only trail between Charlie's 9K and Mid Mountain.
~ Work on the new Bonanza to WOW connection continued with tres mini x's now breaking new trail, along with human-powered corridor clearing and rock work.
~ Lastly, the South Summit team spent the week clearing overgrown side vegetation on the White Fir DH trail and ensuring that the Slate Creek loop was ready for the upcoming race this weekend.
*Pup-lick Service Announcement*
PLEASE take extra good care of our 4-legged friends during these hot summer days. Make sure they have plenty of water and pay attention to hot surfaces- be it paved pathways or even the dirt, as their feet can burn easily.
Dust in the wind... all we are is dust in the wind. It was either that or Another One Bites the Dust. Maybe Gold Dust Woman??? Have a great weekend y'all! #trailreport
