Utah Open Lands’ Bonanza Shuttle is free and connects the Big Cottonwood Canyon Park & Ride in Cottonwood Heights with the Bloods Lake and Bonanza Flat trailheads.
Leave your car in the valley and let someone else handle the canyon road. A shared ride saves gas, reduces emissions, skips the stress of driving and parking, saves the trailhead parking fee, and leaves one more car behind.
If you’ve never visited Bonanza Flat Conservation Area, let this be your way in.
If you already love it, try a new way up.
So how does it work?
The shuttle runs Saturdays and Sundays through September 27.
Uphill shuttles leave the BCC Park & Ride hourly from 7:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m.
If you want time on the trails and a shuttle ride back down, choose a departure between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The 2:30 p.m. departure still travels uphill, with the option to ride the shuttle back down or make your own way down from Bonanza Flat.
The final shuttle down leaves Bonanza Flat Conservation Area at 3:30 p.m. and returns to the BCC Park & Ride around 4:30 p.m.
It’s free and first come, first served, with room for up to 11 passengers and seven bikes. Service animals only.
Bonanza Flat was protected forever. Stewardship lives in the choices we keep making about a place we love.
Choose one weekend. Leave one car behind. Try the shuttle.

A farewell sendoff to August this weekend with shorter days, cooler temps, and hopeful brown pow in the forecast.
🔥Shout out to the firefighters who swiftly and promptly put out the wild fire that sparked Wednesday night in Thaynes Canyon. The trails have reopened for recreation.
🏎️MTF crew aimed for the finish line on a couple of projects this week.
Two big days of crew handwork behind final touches of machine work on Phase 2 of Silver Queen to Loose Moose. The crew has our fingers crossed to receive enough moisture to help set up the soft dirt for a potential fall opening. Rain dances are encouraged.
🏁Only about 100 feet left to dig for the completion of the 9K to Mid Mountain hiking trail. Lots of hours of hand digging from our volunteers and crew has really brought this trail together. Stay tuned for a soft opening date followed by an official grand opening to celebrate this human powered project!
🛝Entrance and exit ramps were reinforced at Oakey Bike Park.
🪚Thank you trail users for continuing to keep us posted about down trees with photos and waypoints. The waypoints really help the crew be direct and efficient with our time and work on saw missions as they pop up. Mother Urban, Sweeney’s, Empire Link were cleared this week.
