“I don’t care if Monday’s blue, Tuesday’s gray and Wednesday too. Thursday I don’t care about you. It’s Friday I’m in love.”
The Cure

Good morning and Happy Friday Park City! Your MTF weekend trail update for May 16th-18th...

Mr. NOAA is suggesting a cool, wet weekend but I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic that we're able to get some quality trail time in today and tomorrow. Sunday's looking a little iffy.

All of the lower elevation trails are in killer shape right now with a profusion of hero dirt. Up on the mountain the snowpack is quickly receding and many of the trails below Mid Mountain are snow-free and good to go. Mid is still holding substantial pockets of snow requiring a good bit of postholio, hike-a-bike. Don't slip slide and away on those ski runs!

The wind event earlier in the week left many blowdowns in it's wake, and the team cleared over 50 between Armstrong, HAM, Spiro, Mother Urban, Gravedigger, 420, John's, Trestle, Lookout, Masonic and Ontario Bypass.

Despite the inclement weather the crew covered a lot of dirt this week and here are a few highlights...

~ A machine and hand crew continued to chip away on High Side in Round Valley, re-benching and addressing drainage issues.
~ A machine and hand crew performed significant tread and drainage work on Rambler between Coyote and RV Express.
~ Lower Rusty Shovel got a haircut and the crew also completed some general drainage and tread work.
~ Side veg was also cleared on lower Pulp Friction and Rambler out of the Old Ranch Road TH.
~ Our South Summit team continued tread/berm work on the Oakley Bike Park, Phase 1, giving lower Rodeo and Buckaroo a refresh.

Whelp, it's about trail-thirty. Time to get out there and get after it! #trailreport

TGIF Park City! Your triple-shot, iced caramel macchiato of trails for this beUtahful looking weekend of May 9th-11th...

First off, a shout out to all the fine folks who came out for the Regional Trails Mixer on Wednesday night and thanks to Park City Mountain for hosting. It was SO great to interact with enthusiastic local trail users, both old and new, as well as the amazing orgs comprised of passionate humans who help to make it all happen.

The weather... After some dust-busting spring showers earlier in the week, we're looking at sunshine and temps in the low to mid 70's this weekend, setting us up for some primo trail conditions.

All of the lower elevation trails in Round Valley, Clark Ranch, Skyridge and Lost Prospector/Solamere are good to go!

There's still a lot of lingering snow up on the mountain that prevents any lengthy routes or loops without a good bit of hike-a-bike, but more trails should start to open up here in the next week or two. Please share any blowdown info with zach@mountaintrails and be sure to pin the location on Trailforks or any other gps app that’s easily sharable.

We brought on the full MTF crew- all eleven, this week and got down to the business of dirt despite the wet start to the week. Here are a few highlights...

~A machine and hand crew spent the week at Clark Ranch working on Family Truckster, Cousin Eddie and Sparky, re-shaping berms, lips and dips.
~A saw team worked their way up Armstrong>Dawn’s>Spiro to clear dead-fall and hazardous leaners.
~Our signage coordinators, Matt & Emma, spent a few days on Lost Prospector updating signage and clearing some dead fall.
~Team members started performing hand-work to improve drainage on the Coyote, Porcuclimb and Mahogany trails
~A machine and hand-crew also got rolling on a more extensive restoration project on High Side, addressing drainage and tread issues.
~Our South Summit/Kamas Valley team begin cleaning up the Oakley Bike Park (Phase 1), as well as clearing blowdowns the Oakley/Seymour Canyon loop.

Enjoy this stellar weather and have a great one out there! #trailreport
