Thirsty Thursday rolls around again!
Grooming report for January 26th:
***Please stay off Rambler unless you have skis or snowshoes on for a few days, it's super soft right now. Thank you!***
The good news is that it's a comfy 17 degrees out with blue skies and barely any breeze out at Quinn's here @ 10:30am. The snow pack is nice and firm and in general all the Nordic and single track we've been grooming regularly should be in pretty darn good shape today.
The bad news is that we are still having some technical issues with snow machines and our snow cat so our grooming today is minimal unfortunately. We did groom Land of Oz, Quinn's area, and up to Hanscom's Hollow before we started having issues. We will pull at least one drag through Round Valley Express to Highland and Silver Quinn, but it probably won't be done until a little after lunch.
In single track news, we're working hard on trying to smooth out upper Tin Man, and yes we're aware we're off trail in a few places which has led to huge bomb holes as people have sunk down through the sage below. With that said, 90% of Tin Man is looking great and is firming up nicely, just be careful near the tippy top as there are some techy spots at the moment.
Also, yes, we did start packing Rambler from lower Porcuclimb Down to RV Express. Which means... it's a ***NO-GO*** for bikers and regular foot traffic for a few days! It needs to firm up, 75% of that trail is super soft right now. You're patience will be worth it! Thank you.
We've also been seeing more then our usual amounts of unaddressed dog presents throughout RV the last few weeks. Yes, we're aware with Sundance there's some new faces around but just a friendly reminder to everyone that our furry friends can be sneaky when finding a spot to do business, so let's keep those pups in sight as much as possible, and if you're one of those people who leaves bagged poo on the side of trail, to remember to pick it up!!! Thank you!

Field of dreams lady here…. I never got back out to snowshoe but Thank you for working on Rambler! And I’m out of town the next 5 days so I won’t have a chance to mess it up either. 🙂. Seriously, thank you for all your hard work this winter!

Thanks for all the hard work but...At 1:00 p.m. today Tin Man was 100% rideable and at 3:00 p.m. it was almost 100% not rideable due to drifting snow. I'm not sure Tin Man was even there anymore due to the flat light and drifted snow. There was a lot of drifting on other trails too that were exposed to the North wind.

Hey there Parkites, Sean here with your daily trail report for Wed. January 25th.
It’s a balmy 14 degrees out in Quinns with not much wind to speak of. We received a dusting of snow over night and the sun is shining bright.
Our snow cat is being repaired as we speak and should be ready to rock soon.
We did a double pass with the snowmobiles and drag groomers this morning on all of the nordic besides Barrel Roll, Hanscom’s, and Land of Oz for they were groomed yesterday and should be in good condition. We have not set any classic track today. All of you classic skiers will have to wait until we can get the cat back out there. Hopefully tomorrow.
The single track trails were looking in pretty good shape. There may be a small amount of drifting from some overnight winds to keep you fat bikers on your toes. We will be trying to get out later and clean it up.
Overall should be an awesome day to go play in the sun and snow. Get out there and have some fun!

It is a chilly 9°F at Quinn’s this morning (at 8:30am) with no wind, and the clouds have been hanging out down low, but seem to be clearing out slowly.
We were starting to groom the nortic and got most of the Quinn’s area (including Land of Oz) groomed, however due to some Snow Cat issues, we had to abandon the groom and likely will be Cat-less next week unfortunately. Matt will be heading back out with the snowmobile and a drag to clean up what we missed.
Alec will be heading out on the single track hitting the P-Dog loop as well as the Big Easy loop. We will do some passes on some of the softer single track trails but it would be best to let them firm up another night before getting bikes and non-snowshoe traffic on them (specifically Tin Man and U.S 40 side of Big Easy)
Just a reminder to be carful out on the single track in the flat light conditions making it hard to see the trail and those occasional soft spots will eat your lunch!

Single track was excellent today, and firm with no sinking even on Big Easy along 40. Unfortunately someone didn't know better and tried to ride it after the groom yesterday and did major damage to the trail all along 40. They made huge sections unrideable today with massive ruts and post holes yesterday. 🤬
Sigh...Pantera Roja limped past me this morning after hurting itself. Here's to a quick recovery!

Saturday, January 21st grooming report:
Quinn's at 9am is sunny but chilly, sitting at 14 degrees right now. Currently no wind, with the sun sparkling off last night's frost, it's beautiful out right now!
Sean is grooming all your favorites today, Land of Oz, Hanscom's Hollow and the entire Barrel Roll! Plus everything else we usually groom with the exception of the steep climb-only section of Valderoad. Classic will be refreshed!
Alec did a grooming pass on the Rail Trail from HW 248 to Bonanza Dr. early this morning.
Rick is giving the single track his special touch today. Freshening up the entire Big Easy loop, Porcuclimb/Down Dog, as well as Rademan Ridge. We've also been working on Tin Man to Happy Gilmore as well, but unfortunately they are still EXTREMELY soft and we hope people will only attempt these trail with snowshoes or ski's until it firms up a bit more. Please and thank you!
Fat bikers are still suggested to drop tire pressure (5 psi or less), while a good portion of the single track is firming up nicely, those soft spots are lurking and will pull you down from time to time, so in an attempt to keep our trails as smooth as possible, let's keep that rubber soft, thanks!
Approximately 12 miles of single track and 30k of Nordic were groomed this morning and ready for action. There's plenty to enjoy out here in just Round Valley alone while the sun is out today!

MTF so regarding Rambler between Round Valley Express and Seventy 101 is it like Field of Dreams ... if I snowshoe it then the snowmobiles will come?
Everything I rode this morning was great except for TM. That was a hard climb due to sections of sagebrush holes, narrow track, postholes, soft spots…

Sorry to say but not surprised, Big Easy on the hwy 40 side is a hot mess. That area is always a challenge but I guess with these soft conditions it is even a bigger challenge.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting out early this week to stomp around thru deep pow searching for single track w/ my bc skis. Great workout!
