Winter Trails Overview
80KM OF GROOMED WINTER TRAIL
While Park City has long been known as an alpine skiing destination, Summit County’s Nordic Trail System has blossomed to nearly 80 kilometers of superbly groomed trail. As fat-tire bikes, snowshoeing and winter trail running grow in popularity, the winter single-track trails are expanding likewise.
In this guide
Adios February, and welcome to March Madness!!
March 1st grooming update:
Unfortunately we had another warmer night last night and without the nightly freeze conditions will be softer and changing more quickly today.
Empire Pass was around 33 degrees around 6am this morning, lightly sleeting/snowing meaning the new snow was sticky and grabby. The Bonanza Nordic loops did receive the usual TLC from Roy Boi this morning, yes with classic set. The Bonanza Winter Shuttle is running today.

Bonanza single track will likely be a no-go today. Without that deeper nightly freeze, and warm tempts, single track likes to get soft on you quickly. Snowshoes are always welcome though! If you do attempt the trails this morning, just be very mindful of your impact up there and remember that's its best to bail and turn around rather than fight the frustratingly soft conditions.
Round Valley is around 37 degrees and had some rain last night, so its extra soupy mashed potatoes down here this morning, and with the overcast skies masking the sun right now, probably best to look for paved pathways todays for the most enjoyable and least impactful experience today.
Whatever you decide to get into today, we hope you have a great day!

Welcome to the weekend Park City!
Saturday, Feb 28th update:
Thanks to another freeze last night, Bonanza is looking sharp this morning! Thanks to our crew who spent yesterday afternoon giving the Bonanza single track the needed TLC to get some benching done and some cord laid down when the snow was soft enough to work with, and it was reported to have been quite firm early this morning! The lower loops are still the best options, with the upper loops always dealing with more off camber sections. Temps are changing fast these days, and so can the snow conditions, so we would strongly advise single track users to get out extra early if romping around the Bo-loops is your goal. As always, be mindful of your impact out there. If it becomes too soft, its actually MORE heroic to bail and take the Nordic track back than it is to soldier on and fight the soft conditions tooth and nail 🙂
Bonanza Nordic track was looking quite nice as well this morning, classic lanes are set and ready to be... classic'ed?!
Round Valley also saw another light freeze last night, it was around 28 degrees at Quinn's around 6:30, and now at 9:10 its reading around 38 degrees. Hopefully Round Valley dries out a bit more here quickly. Even the soft surface trails are taking a beating lately. As a friendly reminder, we have a nice paved pathway system between the Rail Trail and Silver Quinn trails (among many others), for when conditions are soupy and mushy!
Whatever you choose to get into today, we hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!
February 27th update coming at ya
Empire Pass/,Bonanza area had another freeze last night which is great news. It was about 28 degrees on the saddle at 6:30am and I saw tempts as low as 19 degrees in places down Bonanza Flat during the groom. With that said, the sun is out in force and tempts are rising quickly now at 9:30am
The Bonanza Flat Nordic system was fully groomed, and classic set in the usual spots.
Bonanza single track ops are in motion, but there is no single track ready for users today.
Round Valley saw a light freeze last night, and was probably firm enough for use for a few hours this morning, but by 9:30-10am I suspect it's mostly back to mush and mud depending on the aspect. Please stick to the soft surface trails (like Round Valley Express) during these muddy times. Thank you!
With highs in the 50's again to day and for the weekend. Remember to get out early!

Like clock work... it's Thursday again!
Quick update for everyone:
Round Valley was around 35 degrees this morning and has mostly melted out already from this last storm. The soft surface trails will be extra soft today. The single track will be a mix of slush/mud and snudd, best to stay OFF the single track completely... for now.
The good news is that Empire Pass and Bonanza Flat actually had a bit of a freeze last night, so Roy Boi was able to do some worth while grooming up there this morning! Today is still expected to get pretty warm this afternoon, so be aware of changing conditions. The full Nordic system in Bonanza was groomed today, with classic set in the usual spots. The best skiing will always before noon (judging from the expected tempts this weekend), so try to get out early like this winter has hopefully trained everyone to do by now.
Yes, Bonanza Winter Shuttle will be running this Friday-Sunday!
Bonanza Single Track will be a no-go for a few days. It's back on our radar now that Round Valley is cooked. Hopefully the nights continue to freeze and chill to help us get things set up, but please be patient with it, snow trails are really easy to mess up and really hard to fix with conditions like we've been having. I know people are eager, but patience is a virtue that will help the Bo-loops stay good for longer when they are ready!
Whatever you get into day, we hope you all have a great day!

Good morning Park City!
Here is your grooming/trail report (or lack thereof) for Wednesday, February 25th;
It's a short and sweet report today. The word of the day is RAIN. Having received a significant amount of rain the last 48 hours, we're sad to say most of our base for grooming RV Nordic has melted off. Rain has, also, effected grooming operations up in Bonanza as the wet, saturated snow did not allow for a good groom and we were forced to discontinue. Finally, the rain has made most, if not all, soft-surface trails in RV (and beyond) mushy and prone to damage. Please avoid. Today is one of those days it is best to stick to surfaced trails or the various paved options around Park City.
