Seeking 30 Volunteers
July 28th, 2026 – 5pm-8pm
This has been an ongoing volunteer project for MTF the past few years; constructing a hike-only trail option in the high alpine of Deer Valley by hand. This is one of the more traditional trailwork projects we do, as it is literally using handtools to cut a bench, then trail into the mountainside. That being said, this is one of our more demanding/complex volunteer projects as it involves harder exertion and a challenging hike to/from the worksite. The payoff is, once finished, you will have your hand in the creation of a brand new, enduring trail on the Wasatch Back. Work performed will be primarily using handtools (pick mattocks, pulaskis, hazel hoes, mccleods, and rakes) to construct new tread on a steep hillside. Please bring enough food and water for the duration of the event. Also, if you are able to bring your own work gloves, long-sleeve shirt and sunglasses, that would be appreciated. Work tools and instruction will be provided.
