Local Schools and Teams Support Trails

February 2, 2025 by Mountain Trails

SLC Composite Junior Development & Highland High/Judge Memorial Mountain Bike Team Supports Trails

Please join us in thanking the riders of the Highland Composite Mountain bike team for their generous donation to support the trails. We are grateful that the team appreciates year-round trails and the full-time attention they require.

Volunteerism is a great way to give back and understand the rigors of trail work. However, a professional trail crew is the only way to adequately manage the daily needs of a 400-mile trail system. Unlike a football stadium or baseball diamond, trails aren’t always appreciated for the infrastructure they provide: recreational facilities upon which the community depends.

Beyond the financial burdens of trail work, user behavior is another essential aspect of a positive experience, and this is where high school mountain bike teams excel. It begins with a carefully coordinated, state-wide scheduling system that ensures trailheads aren’t overwhelmed. At trailheads, teams divide into smaller groups and plan their routes using directional trails whenever possible. When out on the trails, team members are held to the highest standards of trail etiquette, promoting kindness and sharing the trails with all users.

Thanks to teams like this you can rest assured that the future of trails is bright.

Thank you for contributing to our largest fundraiser!

Today, over 400 continuous miles of non-motorized trails now exist in Park City that connect you to mountain meadows, sagebrush covered hills, aspen groves, coniferous forests, and viewsheds that are unparalleled.

If you like to hike, bike, and ski in Park City, please show your love for open space and trails this Live PC Give PC. We hope that when you give to Mountain Trails Foundation on November 4th, you will also give to Summit Land Conservancy: Because trails and land go hand in hand!

It doesn’t matter how much you give during Live PC Give PC, it matters THAT you give. All it takes is $5 to join the fun November 4th (or before!), and help us save the trails and lands that make Park City special!

Meet “Rosie”

September 27, 2024 by Mountain Trails

It is with deep gratitude that Mountain Trails welcomes the newest member of our fleet, “Rosie!” This new, bright red, ¾ ton work truck is hard to miss, and you’ll see it shuttling crew and equipment throughout the trail system for years to come.

Funded by a Summit County Restaurant Tax grant, Rosie is a vital addition to our feet. Although we love the “character” of some of our older, 200,000-mile trucks, we needed a reliable heavy-duty pickup to haul the crew and heavy equipment safely, year-round.

The name is a nod to a hometown hero, Rosie Brennan, who has leveraged our incredible trail resources to World-Cup and Olympic success. Rosie the truck is a reminder of the caliber of our public trails and the investment from our community.
