Park City trails are open to hiking/trail-running, mountain biking and equestrian trail users. Ranging in altitude from 6,500’ to nearly 10,000’, the trail system spans the whole environmental scale. In a single excursion, trail users can experience everything from high-desert covered in sagebrush, mountain mahogany and rabbit brush to the archetypal high-altitude alpine environment.
Park City has been recognized by the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) as the first Gold Level Ride Center in the world and continues to share that status with five other destinations. Both the Mid Mountain trail and the 26-mile, Park City Epic- Armstrong & Pinecone combined with the Wasatch Crest & Mid Mtn, are recognized as IMBA Epic rides.
The season for alpine trails typically begins in June and runs through early November. Snowpack and rate of spring melt significantly impact the accessibility of trails above 7,000’. Trail crews must wait until trails are dry before they can begin clearing winter blow-downs and making necessary, post-winter repairs. Trails in the lower-lying areas of Park City, such as Round Valley and Glenwild dry out and can be accessible up to six weeks earlier than on-mountain trails.
Utah is known for dynamic and severe weather, especially on the Wasatch Back. During summer months, temperatures can vary as much as 40 degrees in a single day. Summer storms, though typically brief, often cause sudden downpours of heavy rain/hail with temperatures plummeting 25+ degrees and are usually accompanied by lightning. Keep an eye on the sky. If thunderheads begin to develop it is wise to get off the mountain quickly.

Merry Christmas Eve Park City! A quick winter trails update for this holiday week...
First off, Transit to Trails is scheduled to resume free shuttles to Bonanza Flat on Thursday, the 26th, *weather dependent*. www.utahmountainshuttle.com/transit-to-trails-park-city As of right now, the forecast is calling for a 100% chance of snow on Thurs. That said, if it's blowing sideways at the pass, T2T will likely be canceled.
Dropping down to 7,000 feet, the Round Valley trails are in pretty rough shape right now. The snow coverage on the soft-surface trails is meager to non-existent and mud season has returned to the singletrack once again, thanks to the warm temps. You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch!
On positive note, we have a good chance of snow for the next several days, so fingers crossed we see enough to keep the white side up in the Island of Misfit Toys, Round Valley.
Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Holiday week! Snow dances strongly encouraged... #trailreport

Another Bonanza Flat update...
Utah Mountain Shuttle will likely be adding an 8am shuttle tomorrow, Sat & Sun as well, so keep an eye open for that.

Conditions were pretty darn good at 8,500 feet today but with highs near 50 forecasted for the next few days, you'll definitely want to hit it early(before 11am). We currently have about 8K of groomed Nordic online with some classic set, and 5 miles of groomed singletrack.
Please be aware that "early season" conditions exist so ski with caution and lower that tire pressure to 5PSI or less to avoid ruts.
Slather on that sunscreen and have a great one up there! #trailreport

Early morning ahead of the first shuttle, weather dependent.
Remind me of bike/ski etiquette… is the fat bike allowed on the ski track or only where the single track crosses the ski track?
Looks amazing! Will you be grooming in the early morning on the 26th or in the evening?
A quick trail condition update on this hump day, Wednesday December 18th...
Conditions have deteriorated significantly in Round Valley over the past few days. Snow coverage is marginal to non-existent with plenty of gravel and dirt/mud showing. Unfortunately, with sun and warmer temps over the next few days, we're trending back into an early-winter mud-season on many of the singletrack trails.
Please use good judgement out there, get out early while frozen, and avoid singletrack trail use in the warm afternoon hours. The protected, north-facing trails will be your safest bet for decent conditions.
We'll have an update on Bonanza here soon, so stay tuned for that. #trailreport
