The Team Helping Your Trails SLC Composite Highschool MTB

February 7, 2024 by Mountain Trails

As Mountain Trails Foundation looks into the future, we are happy to see the next generation of trail stewards. The Salt Lake Composite Mountain Bike Team is a great example of how high school mountain bike programs benefit our trails.

Not only did the team come out to numerous, regularly scheduled Thursday dig days, they also made a large donation in recognition of the time and effort it takes for us to host these events. Beyond these tangible benefits, high school mountain bike teams teach the “soft skills” we wish every rider knew. Yielding as a group, distributing users, and practicing kindness are deliberate characteristics of the team dynamic.

We hope you will join us in thanking these teams as we celebrate the next generation of trail advocates.

Welcome “Roy”

February 7, 2024 by Mountain Trails

It’s official, the new groomer has a name, Roy! Short for corduroy, the name received 44% of the 700 votes cast via the engage Park City website. This Pisten Bully 100 snowcat will be used to groom Bonanza Flat and Round Valley (conditions permitting).

Our collective thanks for this amazing piece of equipment should be given to the Summit County RAP tax grant and the Park City Municipal team who successfully secured funding.

Help Name the New Groomer

January 16, 2024 by Mountain Trails

Funding from the Summit County Restaurant Tax Grant has helped Park City Municipal purchase a new groomer, a PistenBully 100. This groomer will be used by Park City and Mountain Trails Foundation to maintain the community’s multi-use trails. Park City and Mountain Trails Foundation seek the community’s help to name this important piece of machinery! This machine will operate daily throughout the winter in Round Valley, Bonanza Flat, and other places we know and love to recreate. Together, let’s name this remarkable machine and celebrate its role in shaping the future of cross-country skiing in Park City!

The final list of names has been selected, now it’s up to you, the public, to choose your favorite. From now until January 24th you can visit https://engageparkcity.org/groomer to place your vote.

Here are your choices:

  • “Rosy B.” (Rosy Bully)
  • “‘Roy” (cordu-roy)
  • “Snow Mater”
  • “Tilly”
  • “Tommy-Knocker”
