Rebecca Marriott Champion, long-time resident and local hiker, donated to MTF to meet the match requirement for Seldom Seen grant funding. In building Seldom Seen for downhill bike traffic, we create a hike-friendly zone including Silver Spur, Armstrong, Dawn’s and Lower Spiro trails. Many thanks to Rebecca for having a vision for this hike-friendly route and for putting a winning donation where her feet go!

Trail Hero – Todd Henneman
Shout out to Todd Henneman for stepping up and taking on Pantera Roja. She’s a feisty cat and doesn’t take easily to new groomers. But Todd has got her tamed and will be cat-siting while the MTF crew is in Reno at the International Trails Summit in mid-April.
A little bit about Todd: first, it’s hard to find a picture of him without Susie and/or ski goggles – a testament to his character. Many of you know him, but if you don’t, I’ll just say, too bad for you. You know that super chill dude who everybody loves? The one who exudes cool in a quiet, understated, but all-knowing way, and never talks about himself, despite a lifetime of outdoor accomplishments. Yeah, Todd’s that guy. And he’ll probably dislike that I am calling out his awesomeness, but hey, I’ve decided today is a day to rankle a boss. . . which Todd is to me as he also sits on the Board of Directors at MTF where he has been an enormous help with strategy and morale. Todd, THANK YOU!
Mountain Trails Thanks The Goldfields
Thanks to the Goldfield Family for understanding what it means to have a good home. Their contribution helped MTF pay the final invoice on building out the new HQ. Can’t say enough about the generosity of this family. Thank you, Goldfields!
Recycle Utah’s Fluoro Ski Wax Take Back Program
Attention skiers – fluorinated waxes are bad for us and the environment! The PFAS aka “forever chemicals” they contain have been detected in our local groundwater wells and wastewater.
Recycle Utah, Snyderville Basin Water Reclamation District and City Government of Park City, Utah have teamed up to collect your leftover Fluro wax at Recycle Utah and White Pine Touring now through April 15th.
2023 Triple Trail Challenge registration is now open
The ultimate summer challenge! Complete all three TTC events – Round Valley Rambler Half Marathon, Jupiter Peak Steeplechase & Mid Mountain 50K and earn mountain bragging rights.
Registration is limited. Races will sell out.
Our friends at Salt Lake Running Company Events have announced that registration for 2023 Triple Trail Challenge is now open. These classic trail running events include Round Valley Rambler, Jupiter Peak and Mid Mountain, participation in all three events constitutes the Triple Trail Challenge.
Here’s what they have to say:
ALL RACES ARE IN PERSON & CAPPED AT 400 PEOPLE. Run them all or choose your favorite…the mountains are calling!
Round Valley Rambler – June 10, 2023: 100% of the course takes place on prime, buff single and double track in Round Valley which sits at an altitude between 6,500’ and 7100′. While athletes will find the trails foot-friendly, the rolling, high-desert terrain presents a few long and steady climbs followed by fast downhills.
Jupiter Peak 25K – July 15, 2023: This is a Park City favorite with an elevation profile that resembles an inverted “V” (for vertical!) A 16-mile loop from Park City Mountain Resort (7,000′) to the top of Jupiter Peak (10,000′) and back down.
Mid Mountain 50K – August 19, 2023: The famous Mid Mountain Marathon is now a 50K! Enjoy a new challenge on the beautiful Mid Mountain Trail. The race course begins at Silver Lake/Deer Valley, where it follows the iconic Mid Mountain Trail for nearly 20-miles, to it’s terminus. There is one last uphill push before a long, winding descent down through the Utah Olympic Park trail system.
What you get: Each race will have custom finisher medals, custom race swag accessories and prizes…sans the typical “I already have a million of these” race T shirts.
