Mountain Trails Foundation Announces a Major Transition
Park City, UT, February 18, 2021 – Mountain Trails Foundation (MTF), a Park City/Summit County nonprofit, is announcing that its executive director, Charlie Sturgis, will be stepping down in June. Mr. Sturgis successfully guided the foundation for 11 years and is looking forward to passing the torch so that he can pursue other yet-to-be-determined interests.
Mr. Sturgis is only the third executive director for the foundation with a 29-year history of building, maintaining and advocating for non-motorized trails in the Park City area.
Under his leadership, the foundation grew to financial stability, became a significant community player and is now well-known throughout the national trails industry. While at the helm the foundation was awarded the first ever IMBA Gold Ride Center award.
“Being MTF’s Executive Director has been the honor of my life,” said Mr. Sturgis. “I could not have done it without the help and support of my wife Kathy, the incredible staff at MTF, the foundation’s board of directors, the amazing staff at the City and County, the many local nonprofits and, most importantly, the overwhelming public support which makes our trails what they are today.”
Mr. Sturgis guided the foundation in support of other nonprofits, collaborated with local government agencies and promoted best practices for outdoor recreation. Though there were many challenging situations during his tenure, Mr. Sturgis was known for his can-do approach and his endless pursuit of win-win solutions.
“We cannot thank Charlie enough,” said Steve Perkins. “He has made Mountain Trails Foundation one of the most admired and loved organization in this magnificent corner of the world.”
Mountain Trails Foundation will immediately begin its search for Charlie’s replacement. For interested applicants, please see the job description, requirements and instructions for applying at:
